About us

Better hearing starts with good information

Dr Auditory helps adults, and the people who care about them, find hearing care and understand their options.

Why we built this

Hearing loss is one of the most common health conditions in older adults, and one of the most under-treated. Part of the problem is that the path from “I think I'm missing things” to a good appointment is confusing: who to see, what it costs, what insurance covers, and whether over-the-counter hearing aids are enough.

Dr Auditory brings two things together. A national directory of 15,286 hearing care providers, and a library of guides that answer the questions people ask before they book, with every source listed.

The directory

Listings come from the federal National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES), the public registry behind every National Provider Identifier. We group the organization and clinician records registered at each practice address so you can see who works where: audiologists, licensed hearing instrument specialists, ENT practices and hearing aid centers. Read how we build the directory.

Patients never pay to search or contact a provider. Practices can claim their listing to correct details and receive inquiries.

The guides

Our guides are written by the Dr Auditory editorial team from primary sources: clinical practice guidelines, federal agencies such as the NIDCD, FDA and CMS, professional bodies such as ASHA and the American Academy of Audiology, and peer-reviewed research. Every guide lists its sources. Read our editorial policy.

How we make money

Practices can pay for a claimed listing, which adds photos, services and direct inquiries and places them above unclaimed listings on their city page. That's the only paid product today. No practice can pay to be mentioned or recommended in a guide.
